HOW I WORK
A Buddhist-Based Approach
My work is rooted in a Buddhist-informed approach to living- one that centers awareness, compassion, and a different relationship to the mind.
Rather than relying exclusively on eliminating stress or controlling every aspect of life, I help people relate to their experiences differently. I support clients in learning how to be with what’s here, without immediately reacting, fixing, or pushing it away.
Through mindfulness, I help clients notice the patterns of the mind- how it grasps, worries, plans, and judges- and how those patterns create additional suffering on top of what’s already difficult.
At the same time, I help people cultivate a more compassionate and steady way of being with themselves. Not driven by pressure or self-criticism, but by awareness and grace.
This doesn’t remove the realities of stress, uncertainty, or pain. But it changes how you meet them- and that shift can fundamentally alter your experience of life.
about me
Hi, I’m Kiri
I’m integrative therapist and coach integrating Buddhism, spiritual practices, and modern neuroscience. My work is trauma-informed and draws from attachment, social justice, and existential approaches.
But more than anything—I’m human, just like you. I don’t fit into a box (and I don’t want to), and I love creating space where misfits, seekers, and deep feelers can find belonging in a paradoxical world. I bring my full, authentic self into the room—curious, warm, reflective, playfully silly, a little sassy, but mostly laid-back. Humor and presence are medicines that I bring into this work.
I’m a Chinese/Irish East Bay native with a background in design. I live in a small forest town in Marin County, finding balance in nature, creativity, and connection. In my free time, you’ll find me hiking, gardening, painting, and caring for my partner, step-son, and beloved kitties.
I currently practice as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in California and as a Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State.

Spiritual Background
My path has been shaped by a deep commitment to spiritual practice and inquiry. I’ve spent over 15 years immersed in Buddhist and yogic practice, including training in Tantric Hatha Yoga, studying Tibetan buddhism in Nepal & India, and exploring practices such as meditation, breathwork, bioenergetics, Reiki, and plant medicine.
My foundation is rooted in Buddhist practice. I’ve spent extensive time in meditation retreats from Zen, Chan, and Vipassana traditions, as well as time volunteering at Buddhist monasteries & yoga ashrams. These experiences have grounded me in radical acceptance, compassion, and a willingness to be with what is, even in difficult times.
I’ve also trained with spiritual teacher Thomas Hübl, whose work specializes in healing collective and intergenerational trauma, and the human longing for being, belonging, and becoming.
