navigating the stormy seasons

When you don’t feel like yourself…

Hormonal changes- whether related to PMDD, postpartum, perimenopause, menopause, or gender-affirming hormones- can bring emotional and mental shifts that feel unfamiliar and overwhelming. These shifts can also intensify existing anxiety, trauma, ADHD, OCD, or depression. What once felt manageable may no longer feel that way, and your usual ways of coping may not feel as effective.

You may notice:

  • Increased anxiety, irritability, or emotional reactivity.

  • Feeling more overwhelmed, sensitive, or easily overstimulated

  • Low mood or disconnection.

  • Sudden mood shifts or crashes.

  • Feeling unlike yourself, without a clear explanation.

  • Poor sleep, fatigue, brain fog, or low energy.

When your emotions and capacity suddenly feel different,
hormonal changes may be part of the picture.

A LIBERATORY APPROACH

Your Experience Is Not Happening in a Vacuum

We live in a patriarchal system that has long dismissed, minimized, and under-researched hormonal mental health for women, trans, and nonbinary folks. These experiences are also shaped by cultural expectations, medical dismissal, caregiving demands, identity, and access to support.

A liberatory and anti-oppressive approach recognizes how these forces can become internalized. Rather than treating your distress as a personal failure, we consider the systems you have had to navigate and how you may have learned to disconnect from your needs.

CONTEXTUALIZE

Understand what you’ve internalized

We place the self-criticism, shame, and beliefs that you are “too much,” unstable, or unable to manage in the context of the messages and experiences that shaped them.

unburden

Cultivate Compassion

We begin to set down beliefs that no longer serve you—making space for self-compassion, a more trusting relationship with yourself, and new ways of understanding what you’re moving through.

empower

Make room for who you’re becoming

Hormonal transitions can change what you need, what you value, and what you are no longer willing to carry. We support you in trusting your voice, honoring your limits, and stepping into the person you are becoming.

This pathway is a process of shedding what no longer serves you
—not to return to who you were,
but to make space for who you are becoming.

A SEASON OF REORIENTATION

Hormonal Changes During Midlife

Hormonal changes often coincide with other meaningful life transitions—changes in family roles, relationships, career direction, or caring for aging parents. These hormonal shifts can bring both grief and new possibilities.

This phase can also become an opening. As what once worked begins to shift, you may feel called to reconnect with your needs, your boundaries, and what actually matters to you. There can be grief in that process, and there can also be clarity, depth, and a different kind of strength.

My approach creates space to process these transitions while also supporting the emotional challenges that come with hormonal shifts. Rather than pushing your experience aside or trying to fix it, we begin to understand it—how your body is responding, what’s being stirred, and what is asking for attention.

Over time, this becomes a process of reconnecting with yourself in a more grounded and intentional way.
