Therapy for Hormonal Related Mental Health

Supporting people struggling with hormone-related mental health including PMDD, PME, Postpartum, Perimenopause & Menopause

Serving clients virtually in California and Washington and locally in Berkeley and San Rafael

Navigating Hormonal Shifts

You may notice your mood shifting in ways that don’t feel predictable or within your control. At times you feel like yourself—and then something changes. You might feel more irritable, anxious, low, overwhelmed, or emotionally reactive, and it’s hard to understand why. These shifts can be connected to hormonal changes, including perimenopause, menopause, postpartum, PME, and PMDD.

You might find yourself:

  • Feeling unlike yourself at certain times of the month or life stage

  • Struggling with sudden mood drops, anxiety, or irritability

  • Having a harder time coping with things that normally feel manageable

  • Questioning your reactions or feeling out of control

  • Trying to “push through,” but it keeps coming back

These patterns can be deeply disruptive, especially when they affect your relationships, your sense of stability, and how you see yourself. We also live in a patriarchal system where hormonal health is often misunderstood, under-researched, and dismissed—leaving many people without the support they actually need, and questioning their own experience.

How I Can Support You

Close-up of a mushroom growing on a log in a forest embodying psychedelic assisted therapy and integration.

In our work together, we focus on helping you understand your patterns and respond to them with more clarity and steadiness.

We track mood shifts and symptoms over time, so you can begin to anticipate what’s happening instead of feeling caught off guard. We also look at how hormonal changes intersect with anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and other mental health patterns—so you’re not trying to make sense of this in isolation.

You’ll learn how to:

  • Recognize patterns and prepare for shifts

  • Reduce overwhelm and reactivity in the moment

  • Respond with less self-blame and more clarity

  • Work with your body and nervous system, not against it

I integrate somatic therapy, parts-based work, and structured approaches, so you have both clear tools and space to process what’s underneath.

Therapy for Midlife Transitions and Emotional Change

Perimenopause and menopause often coincide with other meaningful life transitions—changes in family roles, relationships, career direction, or caring for aging parents. These shifts can bring both grief and new possibilities.

I offer space to process these transitions while also supporting the emotional and physical challenges that come with hormonal changes. Many clients find that this stage of life opens an opportunity to reconnect with their needs, boundaries, and values.

Rather than seeing perimenopause and menopause as a problem to fix, I support you in moving through it as a period of self-understanding, healing, and personal growth.

Inclusive Care for Trans & Non-Binary Folks

I support trans and non-binary folks that struggle with mental and emotional health related to their cycle.

Therapy With Me

Kiri Maura McCart from Solthera Therapy, aKetamine-Assisted Therapist.

Hi, I’m Kiri Maura-a licensed therapist-and I live with PMDD while navigating perimenopause. I experience frequent brain fog, chronic fatigue, memory loss, getting my words mixed up constantly, and rapid mood shifts that come out of nowhere.

My approach to being in this stage of life and navigating these changes is to practice radical acceptance and self-compassion, and to embrace the changes with humor and lightness. In our sessions, there will be plenty of time to be with the sadness, grief, or anger that may arise navigating hormonal changes, but I’ll also make plenty of room for laughter and connection.
